Donald Victor Christopher Cuppett, Jr.
Donald Victor Christopher Cuppett, Jr., 81, of Uniontown, PA, passed away peacefully Friday, November 14, 2025. He was born November 29, 1943 in Uniontown.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Donald Victor Cuppet, Sr. and Jane (Swenglish) Cuppett, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry and June Oldland, sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bud Hunt, brother, Paul Cuppett, sister-in-law, JoAnn Oldland, brother-in-law, Manfred Schier, niece, Janie Cuppett, and his good friend whom he considered a brother, Gerry Slampak.
Don graduated from the Uniontown Senior High School, Class of 1961, received his Masters Degree in Education from California College, taught at AJ McMullen Elementary School and the Uniontown High School where he not only taught but, coached on the football teams. He also coached track, girls basketball, and girls softball at the Laurel Highlands High School. Don served honorably in the US air Force, was a lifelong member of St. John the Evangelist RC Church, life member of the Amvets, First Knight with Knights of Columbus, and an avid golfer and ranger at the Springdale Golf Course. He was a lifelong Pittsburgh sports fan, fisherman, and a great singer and dancer. His greatest battle was as a cancer survivor. Don was the ultimate storyteller. He could make anyone laugh and could not be without his crossword puzzles and Werthers Candy. His grandchildren lovingly called him Boppy.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Tricia (Oldland) Cuppett, children: Courtney (Brad) Gecina, Carrie (Jim) Raffle, and Christina (Richard Bryan) Smith, grandchildren: Joseph, Elliot, Jensen, Bradlee, and Campbell Gecina, Lincoln Raffle, and Rosalie, and Isabella Smith. Also surviving are his sister, Mary Jane (Harry) Wilson, brother, Charles (Diane) Cuppett, brother-in-law, Harry Oldland, sisters-in-law, Carole Hunley, Joyce Schier, and Vicki (Frank) Lucente, many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, and many great friends including: Bill Martin, Rick Hauger, Ron Morris, Paul Petrone, Steve Curry, and Sam Laughery.
Friends will be received in the Shell Funeral Home, Inc., 164 S. Mt. Vernon Ave., Uniontown, PA on Monday November 17th, from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, and on Tuesday, November 18th, until 9:30 AM when Prayers of Transfer will be said followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist RC Church, 50 Jefferson St., Uniontown, PA at 10:00 AM. Entombment will follow at Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
The family thanks his wonderful caregivers, Heather, Angelina, and Jessica at AHN, Laurel Ridge Rehab, and Encompass Rehab. In lieu of flowers the family asks the donations in memory of Don be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude PL, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
