James Paul Smith, Jr.
James Paul Smith, Jr., 68, of Lemont Furnace, PA, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at his residence, with loving family by his side. He was born January 10, 1958 in Uniontown, PA, a son of the late James Paul Smith, Sr. and Gertrude Kay (Clark) Zooner.
James was a graduate of Laurel Highlands High School, Class of 1977. He was a Nursing Assistant for over 41 years at the Uniontown Hospital. Following his retirement, he enjoyed being a volunteer shuttle driver at the hospital. In his spare time James was known by his family to be a motorhead who loved working on cars. Most importantly, he was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be missed by his family and many friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of over 50 years, Catherine (Johnson) Smith, children, Joseph Smith, of Lemont Furnace, and Hope Carlson (Scott), and James Smith, III (Trisha), both of Uniontown, seven grandchildren: Logan, Ryan, Kaiden, Mason, Brynnlee, Shaelyn (Justin), and Shane, three great-grandchildren Violet, Kaia, and Ember, three siblings, Dianna Smith, Arthur Zooner, and Robert Zooner.
The family will receive friends in the Shell Funeral Home, Inc., 164 S. Mt. Vernon Ave., Uniontown, PA Thursday, February 5th, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Interment will be private at a later date.
