Torrence W. Trent

Torrence W. Trent, 90 years of Uniontown, PA passed away peacefully Monday February 6, 2017 in LaFayette Manor. He was born February 14, 1926 in Marlinton, WV a son of the late Tom Watson Trent and Florence Gertrude Overholt Trent. Also preceding him in death were his loving wife Irma Anderson Trent September 9, 2016 and a son Todd Trent.

Torrence served honorably in the US Air Force during WWII, was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism from West Virginia University and was a former reporter and Sports Editor for Uniontown Newspapers for over 40 years. He was an original inductee into the Fayette County Sports Hall of Fame.

Surviving is a granddaughter, Alyson Victoria Trent and a daughter-in-law Cindy Trent, both of San Francisco, CA, a brother, Meredith O. Trent and wife Etheline and a sister Pamela T. Keyser and husband Tom, all of Beckley, WV.

Friends will be received in the Shell Funeral Home, Inc. 164 S. Mt. Vernon Ave. Uniontown, PA on Thursday February 9th from 6 to 8 PM and on Friday February 10th until 11 AM the hour of service with Pastor Timothy Rogers officiating. Entombment will be private in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum at Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
