Frederick L. Watson, Jr.

Frederick L. Watson, Jr., 106, of Rock Hill, SC, formerly of Uniontown, passed away peacefully Friday, September 19, 2025, one day prior to his 107th birthday. He was born September 20, 1918 in Uniontown.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Frederick L. Watson, Sr. and Anna (Byers) Watson, his loving wife, Thelma (Wainwright) Watson, and three siblings, Donald B. Watson, Jane W. Darby, and Ann W. Dickerson.

Fred was a member of the Third Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon, and was a member of the John Knox Class. He earned a Masters Degree in Education and taught for the Uniontown Area School District for 38 years. Fred was a member of the education and history fraternities, Phi Delta Kappa and Pi Gamma Mu. He served honorably in the Army Air Force during WWII, and was the organist for Central Christian Church for over 50 years. Fred was a member of Laurel Lodge No. 651 F&AM, and the Retired Teachers Association. He was a lifelong gardener, and maintained an active garden up until the day he passed. He was a kind and loving father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by his family, his former students, and his many friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his children and spouses, Mark W. (Lisa) Watson, of Bedford, NH, Lisa W. (Steven) Brown of Fort Mill, SC, and Amy W. (Jay Robert) Stemler of Mound, MN; Grandchildren: Abby (Josh) Miser, Katy (Jon) Radloff, Mark (Delanie) Stemler, Keith (Jamie) Brown, and Benjamin (Kim) Brown; Great-grandchildren: Ruth and Anne Miser, Elise and Graham Radloff, Cleo and Liam Stemler, Peyton and Ellison Brown, and Austyn Brown.

Friends will be received in the Shell Funeral Home, Inc., 164 S. Mt. Vernon Ave., Uniontown, PA, Friday, October 3rd from 6 to 8 PM and on Saturday, October 4th, until 11 AM the hour of service with Pastor Patrick Ewing and Rev. Dr. W. Darwin Collins officiating. Private interment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, PA.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in memory of Fred to the Third Presbyterian Church, 425 Union Street, or to the Uniontown Public Library, 24 Jefferson Street, Uniontown, PA, 15401.
